Are you a proactive Health & Safety professional looking for a role that offers genuine variety, purpose and influence?
Our client is one of the world's most recognisable institutions, combining a historic college, cathedral, independent school, visitor attraction, residential accommodation and commercial operations within a unique and diverse estate. We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to help shape and strengthen safety culture across this extraordinary environment.
No two days are the same. From centuries-old, listed buildings and student accommodation to busy catering operations, public events, worship spaces, sports facilities and visitor attractions, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, managing risk and supporting safe operations across multiple sites.
Key skills
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH, IIRSM)
- Significant experience in a complex, multi-use organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting audits and investigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work sensitively within a historic and ecclesiastical environment.
Working closely with senior leaders, managers and external partners, you will provide expert advice on health and safety, fire safety, food safety and wider regulatory compliance. You'll lead audits and inspections, support risk assessments, oversee compliance systems and help drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 09:00-17:00, Mon-Fri based at between sites in central Oxford and offers an attractive benefits package including 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, membership of the USS pension scheme (14.5% employer / 6.1% employee), free lunches, staff social events and the opportunity for some hybrid working once established in the role.
