Health & Safety Advisor

This is a hands-on Health & Safety role, providing professional H&S support and advice across the project. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineers, supervisors and site teams to promote high standards of health and safety and ensure that activities are being delivered safely and in line with relevant legislation, company procedures and project requirements.
A key part of the role will be supporting the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses and other H&S-related matters, as well as compiling clear and comprehensive investigation reports.
The role requires a strong site/project presence, combined with the ability to provide effective advice, challenge unsafe practices and support the project team in maintaining a positive health and safety culture.

• 
  Provide professional Health & Safety advice and guidance to the project and site teams.
• 
  Maintain a regular H&S presence across the A14 project.
• 
  Support project management and operational teams in meeting their health and safety responsibilities.
• 
  Undertake regular site-based H&S engagement, observations and monitoring of working practices.
• 
  Provide advice on safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements.
• 
  Review and provide input into RAMS, permits and other relevant H&S documentation.
• 
  Support the management of incidents, accidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences.
• 
  Lead or support H&S investigations as required, gathering relevant information and establishing the facts.
• 
  Compile clear, accurate and comprehensive investigation reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
• 
  Assist with identifying appropriate corrective and preventative actions following incidents or H&S issues.
• 
  Monitor the implementation of agreed H&S actions and provide appropriate follow-up.
• 
  Provide guidance on compliance with relevant H&S legislation, company policies and project requirements.
• 
  Promote positive health and safety behaviours and a proactive safety culture across the project.
• 
  Attend relevant project meetings, briefings and H&S discussions.
• 
  Support toolbox talks, safety briefings and other H&S initiatives where required.
• 
  Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• 
  Escalate significant H&S concerns appropriately and provide practical solutions to address them.
• 
  Maintain accurate H&S records and documentation.
• 
  Support the wider H&S function with additional project requirements as necessary.

Working Hours: 8-10 hours per shift

Minimum 3/4 days per week on sites within the East Anglian region on the A14.
1/2 days per week will be office based or hybrid working.
