Health & Safety Advisor – UK
Location: UK Sites (with travel across UK projects)
Naughton Contracts Ltd is a young, ambitious civil engineering company delivering groundworks, earthworks, basements, site set-up and enabling, and civil engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Including major data centre developments. We're looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to support our UK project sites, helping us maintain a strong, proactive safety culture across all our operations.
About the Role
As H&S Advisor, you'll provide on-the-ground health and safety support across our UK sites, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, and management to ensure safe systems of work are followed, risks are identified and controlled, and our high standards are maintained on every project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across groundworks, earthworks, basements, civil engineering, and site set-up/enabling projects.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
- Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and support the preparation of reports and corrective action plans. Review and advise on risk assessments, method statements (RAMs), and safe systems of work.
- Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, and clients to promote a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement. Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation in line with company management systems.
- Support the wider H&S team in preparing for audits and accreditations (e.g. ISO 45001). Escalate significant risks or non-conformances to the H&S Manager as required.
Experience
- Experience working as an H&S Advisor within civil engineering, groundworks, or construction.
- Experience conducting site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Experience working across multiple sites and with varied subcontractor teams is an advantage.
- Familiarity with data centre, industrial, or infrastructure projects is beneficial.
Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards (e.g. CDM Regulations).
- Understanding of civil engineering, groundworks, and construction methods and associated risks.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, method statement (RAMs), and safe systems of work processes.
- Awareness of incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or Construction Certificate) or equivalent.
- Membership or working towards membership of a professional safety body (e.g. IOSH) is highly beneficial.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence (role involves travel between sites).

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage site teams at all levels.
- High attention to detail and a methodical, thorough approach to inspections and documentation.
- Confident delivering training, inductions, and toolbox talks to diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with sound judgement in identifying and managing risk.
- Competent in using digital tools for reporting, audits, and safety management systems.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong links with the wider H&S and project teams.
