We’re supporting a leading food manufacturing organisation seeking a passionate and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to strengthen site safety culture, enhance compliance, and drive continuous improvement across a fast‑paced operational environment.
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with operational teams, influence senior leaders, and embed robust risk‑management processes that protect people, reduce incidents, and support long‑term site performance.
About the Role
You’ll play a key part in developing a more mature safety culture — one where colleagues take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of those around them. Working across operations, engineering and project teams, you’ll ensure systems, processes and behaviours align with legal requirements and best practice.
Your focus will include risk management, compliance, training delivery, incident reduction and continuous improvement across all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment.
Key Responsibilities

Risk Management — Implement formal, robust risk‑management processes across operations and projects.

Safety Culture Development — Empower teams to take ownership of safe behaviours and embed proactive safety practices.

Compliance & Audit Readiness — Ensure alignment with UK H&S, environmental and fire legislation.

Incident Investigation — Identify root causes, simplify complex requirements, and drive corrective actions.

Training Delivery — Deliver safety, technical and compliance training to uplift capability across the site.

Continuous Improvement — Track and plan improvements to site safety processes and compliance systems.

Stakeholder Influence — Engage confidently with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
What You’ll Bring

NEBOSH Certificate (ideal) or equivalent safety qualification

Experience improving EHS metrics within manufacturing or FMCG

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels

Enthusiasm, drive and passion for creating safer workplaces

Ability to interpret and simplify complex legislation

Natural coaching skills and a collaborative approach

Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety, Fire and Environmental legislation
