Health & Safety and Environmental Officer

The Role

As Health & Safety and Environment Officer, you will be responsible for supporting and developing Health, Safety and Environmental practices across both production and office environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting Health & Safety and Environmental risk assessments and identifying appropriate control measures.
• Monitoring and reporting on Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
• Ensuring management systems comply with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Working with senior management and production teams to identify hazards and develop safe working procedures.
• Supporting the implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental strategies and policies.
• Identifying site training requirements and helping to ensure appropriate training is delivered.
• Leading accident and incident investigations and coordinating any resulting actions.
• Maintaining accurate records of accidents and incidents and liaising with senior management and the relevant authorities where required.
• Working with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure new and repaired equipment is installed and operated safely.
• Carrying out regular site inspections to monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
• Managing the safe disposal of hazardous substances.
• Maintaining legal and best-practice information relevant to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Monitoring environmental resource usage, including water and gas, and preparing KPI information.
• Developing initiatives around recycling, pollution reduction and pollution prevention.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• NEBOSH qualification - essential
• IOSH qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous experience working within a production environment - essential
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to prioritise workload and make decisions effectively.
• A flexible and collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across different departments.
