Health & Safety / CDM Advisor

Principal People Recruitment

Principal People are working with a well-established and growing Health & Safety consultancy to recruit a Health & Safety / CDM Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of clients and projects across the North West.

This is a varied position combining practical Health & Safety consultancy with Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM 2015. You’ll work across healthcare, housebuilding and industrial environments, giving you exposure to different projects, clients and stages of the construction process.

The role is predominantly home based, with travel to client sites typically 2–3 days per week across the North West. Around 50% of the current workload sits within NHS healthcare estates, with the remainder split across major housebuilding clients and wider industrial projects.

You’ll join an experienced consultancy where you’ll be trusted to manage your own workload and client relationships, while having the support of an established wider team.

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary of £55,000 – £65,000
  • Car allowance of £5,000 per year
  • Predominantly home-based position
  • Typically 2–3 days per week visiting client sites
  • 31 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Varied portfolio across healthcare, housebuilding and industrial projects
  • Support with further professional development and qualifications

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as Health & Safety Advisor across a portfolio of construction and engineering projects
  • Supporting clients with their duties under CDM 2015 and fulfilling Principal Designer responsibilities where required
  • Carrying out site inspections, audits and compliance visits
  • Providing practical H&S and CDM guidance to clients, contractors, project managers and design teams
  • Reviewing pre-construction information, construction phase documentation, risk assessments and design information
  • Attending design, project and client meetings and contributing to design risk reviews
  • Building strong relationships with clients and managing your own diary across multiple projects
  • Supporting continued improvement in H&S and CDM standards across client organisations

What they’re looking for

  • NEBOSH General, Construction Certificate or equivalent
  • Good practical experience within construction, engineering or a related environment
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015
  • Experience working with design teams and an understanding of Principal Designer responsibilities
  • Full UK driving licence and comfortable travelling across the North West

This could suit an established CDM / H&S professional looking for a varied consultancy position, or someone with strong construction and design experience who wants to further develop their Principal Designer capability.

If you’re looking for a role offering autonomy, varied projects and the opportunity to work closely with major clients across the North West, apply today or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
