We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support a growing highways and civil engineering business delivering projects across the South East. Working closely with operational teams, you'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance and embedding a positive safety culture throughout the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being visible on projects, building relationships and influencing people at every level rather than sitting behind a desk.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll be responsible for leading Health & Safety across multiple operational sites and supporting managers to achieve the highest possible safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture across the business.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and audits.
  • Supporting operational teams with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Investigating incidents and identifying preventative actions.
  • Delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Advising senior management on legislative compliance and best practice.
  • Monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Working closely with clients and stakeholders on Health & Safety matters.
  • Supporting external audits and maintaining management systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and current Health & Safety legislation.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with experienced Health & Safety professionals who have worked within one or more of the following sectors:

Highways, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Utilities, Construction, Heavy Industrial, Rail, Aggregates

You'll ideally have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • IOSH Membership (or working towards Chartered status).
  • Experience supporting multiple operational sites.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience building positive relationships with operational teams rather than policing them.
