I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established construction business with a strong presence across Scotland.
This is a senior opportunity for someone who has a strong background in construction health and safety and is confident working closely with site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior management.
You’ll take ownership of health and safety across a varied portfolio of construction, building and civil engineering projects, providing practical advice, carrying out inspections and audits, investigating incidents and helping to continually improve the organisation’s health and safety standards and culture.
The role is based from Head Office in Alloa, with regular travel required to sites throughout Scotland.
The RoleAs Health & Safety Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
- Carrying out regular health and safety inspections across multiple projects
- Providing competent H&S advice and guidance to operational and site teams
- Ensuring compliance with UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations 2015
- Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Producing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements and Construction Phase Plans
- Supporting site teams with fire and emergency planning
- Monitoring health and safety performance and driving corrective actions
- Supporting tenders, PQQs and client compliance requirements
- Maintaining training, competency and occupational health records
- Ensuring all mandatory training and certification remains valid and up to date
- Working with subcontractors, clients and external stakeholders
- Promoting a positive and proactive health and safety culture across the business
- Reporting on H&S performance and identifying opportunities for continual improvement
You'll ideally have:
- CMIOSH – Chartered Member of IOSH
- Proven H&S management experience within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations 2015
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and incident investigations
- Experience working with principal contractors and subcontractors
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- A practical, proactive approach to health and safety
- Full UK Driving Licence
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- Internal ISO Auditor qualification
- Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated management systems
- Experience maintaining SSIP and trade body accreditations
- Experience supporting external certification and surveillance audits
- Experience working with major clients and principal contractors
