Health & Safety Manager
The Collective Network Limited
Health & Safety Manager
Cambridgeshire
Up to £55,000
Most Health & Safety Managers spend their career maintaining someone else's system. This one's different: you'd be building it.
This Food manufacturer knows its H&S function has been ticking along but needs to go to the next level for their phase of growth, and they're doing something about it rather than just talking about it.
They're bringing in a newly created position Health & Safety Manager to own the function outright, part of the senior leadership team, and shape the strategy from a blank page rather than inherit someone else's half-finished plan.
You'd be the go-to person for everything from PUWER and COSHH to RIDDOR and DSEAR, but the real job is bigger than compliance. It's building a safety culture that people actually buy into, not one they tolerate because the paperwork says so. Coaching managers to lead safety with confidence. Getting near-miss reporting up because people trust the process, not because they're told to. Making audits a non-event because the site is always ready, not scrambling the week before.
You'll need proper food manufacturing or FMCG experience, a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), and enough backbone to hold the line when it's easier not to. Chartered IOSH status would help, but attitude and credibility matter more than another letter after your name.
If you want a role where you're managing a spreadsheet, this isn't it. If you want one where you're genuinely trusted to build something and change how a site thinks about safety, get in touch.
