Heat Treatment Operative
Pay: £14-£16 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Permanent
We're looking for a Heat Treatment Operative to join the team. This is a hands-on role working in a specialist area of production, processing thin gauge aluminium parts used in the aerospace industry.
What the role involves
- Loading and unloading aluminium components into heat treatment furnaces
- Running heat treatment processes (e.g. solution treatment, ageing, annealing) to set instructions
- Monitoring temperatures, timings and process cycles to make sure parts meet spec
- Quenching and cooling parts safely using the correct methods
- Checking and recording process data and job information
- Preparing parts before and after treatment (cleaning, handling, moving between stages)
- Working to route cards, work instructions and production schedules
- Carrying out basic inspections and supporting quality checks
- Keeping the work area clean and organised in line with 5S standards
- Following all health & safety procedures at all times
(Typical duties in similar roles include operating furnaces, controlling heating cycles, quenching materials, and ensuring parts meet aerospace quality standards.) [(url removed)], [(url removed)]
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (heat treatment experience is ideal but not essential)
- Understanding of production processes and working to instructions
- Any experience with heat treatment, furnaces, or metal processing would be an advantage
- Ability to read basic job sheets, drawings or route cards
- Good attention to detail - especially around quality and traceability
- Comfortable working in a production environment and handling components
- Basic computer skills for recording jobs and data
- Reliable, hands-on and able to work as part of a team
The role
This is a shop floor-based role, so you'll be working closely with production and quality teams day to day. The work is fairly physical and requires a good level of care and attention, especially given the standards required for aerospace parts.
