Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Workshop Engineer to join a great team supporting the assembly, inspection, servicing, repair and refurbishment of construction equipment.

The role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostic skills, ensuring machines are prepared safely, efficiently and to manufacturer standards before customer delivery or return to service.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Assembly & PDI

• Assemble new machines to manufacturer specifications.
• Complete Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI), commissioning and functional testing.
• Install optional equipment and customer-specific modifications.
• Complete accurate inspection and service documentation.

Servicing, Repairs & Diagnostics

• Carry out planned maintenance, warranty repairs, rebuilds and refurbishment work.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and complete repairs.
• Diagnose control systems and record technical findings accurately.
• Replace components using approved repair procedures.
• Ensure repairs are completed safely and correctly first time.

Workshop & Quality Standards

• Complete job cards, labour records and service history updates.
• Record parts used and support workshop administration.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Support stock control of tools and consumables.
• Identify recurring faults and contribute to continuous improvement.

Electric & Battery Equipment

• Support servicing and repair of battery-electric machinery.
• Follow high-voltage safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Support commissioning of charging equipment where required.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience working on construction equipment, heavy plant, agricultural machinery or commercial vehicles.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability.
• Experience with hydraulic systems.
• Electrical and electronic diagnostic skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
• Good IT skills and accurate record keeping.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

• NVQ Level 3 Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
• Experience using diagnostic software.
• Construction equipment manufacturer experience.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• High Voltage or EV qualification.
• F-Gas qualification.
• LOLER awareness.
• IPAF/MEWP experience.
• Forklift licence.
