HGV Class 2 Driver

Pay: £16.00–£18.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm (finish times may vary depending on routes)

About the Role

Smart Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver on behalf of our client, a well-established waste management company.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and customer-focused driver looking for long-term, stable work with the opportunity to secure a permanent position.

The Role

You will be responsible for driving a Refuse Collection Vehicle (RCV) on planned residential collection routes, collecting household and green waste. You will work alongside one or two loaders, with driving being your primary responsibility. There will also be occasions where you will assist your crew with loading duties to ensure collections are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV Class 2 Refuse Collection Vehicle.
• Complete scheduled household and green waste collection routes.
• Work closely with one or two loaders to complete daily collections.
• Assist with loading when required.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects.
• Drive in accordance with all road traffic legislation and company procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service while working within residential communities.
• Maintain a strong focus on health and safety at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous RCV or waste industry experience is desirable but not essential.
• Positive, team-focused attitude.
• Good awareness of health and safety.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
