We're recruiting on behalf of a highly respected local authority for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their established workshop team in Bromsgrove. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract with guaranteed work through to at least October, weekly pay, and the chance to work on a diverse fleet that keeps essential public services running every day.

From refuse collection vehicles and sweepers to grounds maintenance and specialist fleet vehicles, no two days are the same. You'll be joining a professional, well-equipped workshop with a supportive team that takes pride in maintaining a fleet of almost 200 vehicles to the highest standards.

Due to the nature of the role, an LGV Class 2 licence is essential.

The Role

As an HGV Mechanic, you'll play a key role in ensuring the council's fleet remains safe, reliable and fully compliant. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and specialist fleet vehicles
  • Carrying out inspections, diagnostics and fault finding
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA inspections
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety and compliance standards
  • Working collaboratively within the workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime

You'll primarily be based in Bromsgrove, with occasional travel to a nearby depot when required.



Working Hours

The workshop operates on a rotating shift pattern:

  • Early Shift: 6:30am - 2:30pm
  • Late Shift: 10:00am - 6:00pm

(Alternating weekly.)



What we're looking for

  • Experience working as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician or PSV Technician
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of DVSA inspection standards and vehicle compliance
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent preferred)
