GSE/HGV Technician – Glasgow (£39,000 rising to £41,440 after probabtion) 

CDM Recruitment are managing the recruitment process for an established organisation within the aviation and ground support equipment sector. We are looking for an experienced GSE/HGV Technician to join a busy workshop team in Glasgow.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the repair, maintenance and inspection of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and associated vehicles.

The Role

  • Carry out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on GSE, LGV and HGV vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and complete inspections, brake tests and smoke tests.
  • Accurately complete job cards and maintenance documentation.
  • Identify additional work and parts requirements and communicate these to the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to required quality standards.
  • Work independently both indoors and outdoors when required.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours/on-call rota.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, working either:

  • 06:00–14:30
  • 08:00–16:30

Plus an on-call rota of approximately 1 week in 4, including weekend cover.

About You

  • Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, ideally within GSE, LGV or HGV environments.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Level 3 Motor Mechanics qualification (LGV) – essential.
  • LGV/HGV Class 3 licence – essential.
  • Electrical and hydraulic experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety within a workshop environment.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
