HGV Technician – Day Shift – Doncaster

Pay: £19.80 per hour including shift allowance
Shift: Days – 4 on, 4 off

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading vehicle logistics and automotive services company for an experienced HGV Technician to join their operation in Doncaster.

Our client operates within the automotive and vehicle logistics sector, providing a range of services to major vehicle manufacturers, dealerships and automotive businesses. Their operations involve the movement, storage, inspection, preparation and management of vehicles, supported by a large commercial vehicle fleet.

Due to continued demand, they are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their day-shift maintenance team.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will play an important role in keeping the company's commercial vehicle fleet safe, reliable and operational.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults
  • Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Carrying out MOT preparation and associated repairs where required
  • Using diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard and remain roadworthy
  • Completing maintenance records and relevant documentation
  • Working safely and in line with company procedures and industry regulations
  • Supporting the wider workshop and operations team
  • Responding to vehicle defects and breakdown-related maintenance when required

Shift Pattern & Pay

4 Days On / 4 Days Off

06:00 – 18:00

  • 12-hour shifts
  • 4 days on, 4 days off
  • £18.00 per hour basic rate
  • Shift allowance bringing the rate to £19.80 per hour
  • Full-time, ongoing position

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced HGV Technician with a strong background in commercial vehicle maintenance.

You should have:

  • Previous experience as an HGV / LGV Technician
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing HGVs or commercial vehicles
  • Good understanding of vehicle safety and roadworthiness
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A professional and reliable approach
  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent are desirable
