Our client, a reputable commercial vehicle operation in Ilkeston, is seeking to appoint a skilled HGV Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced HGV Technicians to work within a stable and supportive workshop environment, offering long-term job security and ongoing technical development.

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 Basic + Bonus + Benefits
Hours: 45 Hours Per Week
Contract: 24 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Likely Extension)

Duties of the HGV Technician:
  • Servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and LCVs
  • Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT testing
  • Conducting six-week safety inspections and scheduled servicing
  • Diagnosing faults using modern workshop diagnostic tools
  • Mechanical and cosmetic repairs as required
  • Completing warranty repairs aligned with manufacturer guidelines
  • Replacing and fitting vehicle components safely and efficiently
  • Providing breakdown support when necessary
  • Maintaining accurate workshop documentation and compliance records
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with DVSA and company standards
Requirements of the HGV Technician:
  • Proven experience working on HGVs within a commercial fleet environment
  • Experience working on LCVs advantageous
  • City & Guilds Commercial Vehicle qualification or equivalent preferred
  • HGV driver’s licence beneficial but not essential
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, hardworking, and well-organised approach
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to develop skills
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mentality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment
