Our client is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join their established team in Huncote, Leicestershire. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a HGV Technician with extensive mechanical and electrical diagnostic experience to work across a diverse range of vehicles and equipment.

  • Working on a variety of vehicles including HGVs, trailers, and plant equipment
Duties of a HGV Technician:
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on HGVs, trailers, and plant machinery
  • Servicing and preventative maintenance, including six-weekly inspections
  • Conducting MOT preparation and repairs
  • Repairing telehandlers, loading shovels, excavators, and access platform cherry pickers
  • Attending breakdowns and performing roadside diagnostics on a rota basis
  • Maintaining accurate records of work, parts used, and time allocated
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues and clients regarding repairs, parts, and timings
  • Adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
Requirements of a HGV Technician:
  • Minimum 4 years’ practical experience as an HGV and/or plant mechanic
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • Experience working on multi-brand vehicles
  • IRTEC certification (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Dependable with a professional work ethic
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally
  • Desirable qualifications include welding, fabrication, hydraulic systems knowledge, and experience with hydraulic or RORO equipment
