Location: Merthyr

Salary: £41,000 - £43,300

45 hours per week | between 07:00 and16:30   Monday to Friday

Full Time | Permanent

Questech Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and wants to be part of a professional, supportive team.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and ready for operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and refuse collection vehicles.
• Diagnose faults on both chassis and mounted equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure work meets DVSA/VOSA standards.
• Complete body and chassis repairs to manufacturer and Department for Transport specifications.
• Accurately complete job cards and maintain service records using company systems.
• Attend customer sites when required, providing a professional and reliable service.
• Work efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Follow all health & safety procedures and carry out risk assessments where necessary.
• Take part in ongoing manufacturer and technical training.

What We're Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Previous experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Good knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems and vehicle diagnostics.
• Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including overtime when required.

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Experience working on electric vehicles.
• IRTEC accreditation.
• HGV Class 2 licence.
