HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic – Bexley

Location: Bexley, DA1 5QJ
Salary: £47,000–£53,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, with working hours between 12:00 and midnight

Questech Recruitment is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join our client’s Aftermarket team in Bexley. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles, including chassis and mounted equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
• Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and ensuring they meet required roadworthiness standards
• Completing body, chassis and mounted equipment repairs
• Maintaining accurate job cards and updating company systems
• Working independently at customer sites and communicating professionally with customers
• Following health and safety procedures and completing risk assessments where required
• Attending training to develop your technical knowledge

What we’re looking for:

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification
• Previous experience in commercial vehicle servicing and repair
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Knowledge of vehicle electronics and hydraulics, with the ability to read wiring diagrams
• Good communication and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when required

Electric vehicle experience, an IRTEC qualification or an HGV Class 2 licence would be advantageous.
