Hours: Monday to Friday | 07:30-16:00 | 40 hours per week

Additional: Overtime available | 1 in 4 on-call rota

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician

Are you an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Truck Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician looking for a varied role with excellent earning potential?

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established fleet maintenance operation based in Thatcham. This is an excellent opportunity for an HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Truck Technician to earn between £45,200 and £55,000 per year, while working Monday to Friday with excellent overtime rates and the opportunity to develop your skills on specialist equipment.

As an HGV Technician, you'll work on a diverse fleet including HGVs, vans and specialist equipment, offering plenty of variety alongside ongoing technical training.

The Role - HGV Technician

As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician, you will:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, LGVs and commercial vehicles
• Complete PMIs, inspections and MOT preparation
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
• Attend breakdowns and support mobile repairs as part of the on-call rota
• Service and maintain specialist equipment with full training provided
• Complete job cards and service documentation accurately
• Ensure all repairs are completed to DVSA and company standards
• Work safely while maintaining high workshop standards

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Truck Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification or equivalent, or a minimum of five years' commercial vehicle experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Experience working on HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Good understanding of electrical systems and vehicle diagnostics

Desirable

• Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Welding or fabrication experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge
• Experience maintaining plant or specialist equipment
