HGV Mechanic – Birtley, Tyne & Wear

We require someone who is reliable, flexible, and prepared to work hard and able to communicate on a good level with a positive attitude to Health & Safety.

This is a full-time position based in the Birtley workshop.

Requirements

• Must hold a formal qualification – NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
• Heavy plant experience will also be considered
• HGV mechanical experience is a must
• A Class 1 (C+E) licence would be preferable but not essential
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Ability to use tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks
• Ideally have experience working on Mercedes, Renault & Scania
• Ideally have experience working with hydraulic systems
• Full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Carry out general mechanical planned and corrective maintenance
• Prepare vehicles for MOT
• Carry out diagnostic fault identification and rectification repair
• Assist with apprenticeship training
