HLTA (SEND Provision) - Secondary School in the New Forest

Supply Desk are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the specialist SEND provision within a thriving secondary school in the New Forest from September 2026.

This is a long-term opportunity supporting students with additional needs within a dedicated provision. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence and make meaningful progress both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted interventions and small-group learning sessions within the SEND provision
  • Support students with a range of additional learning needs across KS3 and KS4
  • Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual student needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and external professionals
  • Provide classroom support to ensure students can fully access the curriculum
  • Assist with monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and families
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold an HLTA qualification, CACHE Level 3 qualification, or a relevant Education degree
  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Be confident working with students who require additional academic, social or emotional support
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be flexible, resilient and committed to helping students achieve their potential
  • Have experience working within a secondary school environment
Minimum Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two years' worth of professional references
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Relevant HLTA qualification, CACHE Level 3 qualification, or Education-related degree
  • Previous experience supporting students with additional needs
