High Voltage Autorised Engineer (HVAP Engineer)

We're looking for an experienced HVAP Engineer to join a major engineering site and manufacturing site in Filton, working as part of a highly skilled facilities engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for an electrician or electrical engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a large, technically complex site, with exposure to critical electrical infrastructure and high-voltage systems.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for maintaining, operating and supporting the electrical infrastructure across the site, with a particular focus on HV systems.

The role will include:

  • Planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and HV infrastructure.
  • Carrying out HV switching, isolation and restoration activities.
  • Working with HV switchgear, substations, transformers and associated equipment.
  • Fault-finding and responding to electrical and HV faults.
  • Supporting the safe operation and maintenance of the site's electrical network.
  • Working in line with electrical safety procedures, permits and isolation requirements.
  • Completing planned maintenance and statutory inspections.
  • Supporting contractors and specialist engineering teams when required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, inspections and switching activities.
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to ensure the site remains safe, compliant and operational.
  • Identifying potential improvements and helping maintain high engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

We’re interested in speaking with qualified electricians and electrical engineers with genuine HV experience, particularly those who have been involved in HV switching and electrical isolation.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Level 3 Electrical qualification / City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with HV electrical systems.
  • Practical experience of HV switching, isolation or network operation.
  • Experience with HV switchgear, substations or transformers.
  • Authorised Person (AP) / Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.
  • 18th Edition would be beneficial.
  • Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills.
  • A safety-first approach and good understanding of electrical compliance.
