Supply Desk is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Watford from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teaching professional who is committed to supporting pupils to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where every child feels valued, confident, and motivated to learn.

Working closely with teachers and the wider school team, you will support high-quality teaching and learning across the primary phase, deliver planned lessons and learning activities, and provide targeted support to individuals and groups of pupils. The school is looking for an HLTA who can build strong relationships with pupils and staff, promote positive behaviour, and contribute to the academic, social, and emotional development of all learners.

The Role
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective learning experiences across the primary curriculum.
  • Lead and deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher or as directed by the school.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups of pupils, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports the needs of all pupils.
  • Monitor and contribute to the assessment of pupils' progress, providing feedback to teachers where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations for pupil engagement and achievement.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, teachers, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to support the progress and wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events.
  • Uphold high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds an appropriate HLTA qualification or has significant experience working at a higher level within a primary school setting.
  • Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA within a UK primary school.
  • Has experience supporting teaching and learning across the primary curriculum.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Is confident delivering lessons and activities independently when required.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about helping children achieve their academic, social, and emotional potential.
  • Promotes inclusive teaching practices and understands how to support pupils with a range of learning needs.
  • Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Is reliable, adaptable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a school team.
