Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Croydon


Location: Croydon, South London
Salary: £100–£120 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start Date: 8 September 2026
Transparency Education is looking for an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Croydon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established HLTA who enjoys taking an active role in teaching and learning. You will work closely with class teachers and senior staff, providing targeted support to pupils while also leading lessons and groups when required.

The role
You will:


• Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes.
• Provide classroom cover when required.
• Lead focused interventions in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
• Support pupils with different learning needs and abilities.
• Help maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement.
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress.
• Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

What we are looking for


  • We would particularly like to hear from applicants who have:
  • Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a similar senior support role.
  • An HLTA qualification or substantial relevant classroom experience.
  • Confidence leading groups and whole classes independently.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • A professional, adaptable and proactive approach.
