Key Responsibilities
- Lead learning activities and deliver lessons to individuals, small groups, or whole classes under the direction of the teacher.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Plan, prepare, and adapt learning resources to meet the needs of all learners.
- Provide targeted interventions to help pupils achieve learning objectives.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a productive learning environment.
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and implement individual support plans.
- Cover classes in the absence of the teacher when required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and development of teaching and learning activities across the school.
Person Specification
- Experience working with primary-aged children in a school setting.
- Good English and Maths skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, caring, and able to engage and support pupils.
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
Desirable
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or training.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
- Knowledge of the primary curriculum.
- Experience delivering interventions or small-group support.
- First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
