Key Responsibilities

  • Lead learning activities and deliver lessons to individuals, small groups, or whole classes under the direction of the teacher.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Plan, prepare, and adapt learning resources to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide targeted interventions to help pupils achieve learning objectives.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and implement individual support plans.
  • Cover classes in the absence of the teacher when required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to the planning, evaluation, and development of teaching and learning activities across the school.

Person Specification

  • Experience working with primary-aged children in a school setting.
  • Good English and Maths skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, caring, and able to engage and support pupils.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.

Desirable

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or training.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Knowledge of the primary curriculum.
  • Experience delivering interventions or small-group support.
  • First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
