NEOS Engineering are working with a growing specialist equipment hire business who are looking to appoint an experienced Hire Controller to join their Birmingham team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone from a plant hire, construction equipment, machinery rental, or engineering environment who enjoys managing customer relationships, coordinating equipment movements, and playing a key role in keeping operations running smoothly.

The business specialises in the hire, supply, servicing, and support of specialist equipment used across the construction and civil engineering sectors, working with a wide range of customers and providing a high-quality service from initial enquiry through to delivery and collection.

The Role:

• Managing the full hire process from enquiry through to off-hire
• Handling customer calls, quotations, and account enquiries
• Coordinating equipment availability, transport, deliveries, and collections
• Liaising with customers, engineers, drivers, and internal teams
• Maintaining accurate hire records and updating systems
• Building strong working relationships with repeat customers
• Supporting the wider depot operation to deliver excellent service

The Person:

• Previous experience within plant hire, tool hire, equipment rental, or a similar environment
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Confident handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
• Organised with good attention to detail
• Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities
• A team player who takes pride in delivering a quality service

Desirable:

• Knowledge of construction equipment, attachments, or heavy plant
• Experience using hire management systems
• Previous hire desk or rental controller experience

The Package:

• Salary up to £38,000 depending on experience
