Position: History Teacher 

Location: Tower Hamlets

Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Tower Hamlets to recruit an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History Teacher for a full-time, fixed-term position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful Humanities faculty within a school recognised for its high academic standards, inclusive ethos and commitment to staff development.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced lessons that inspire a love of History.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress, ensuring all learners are challenged to achieve their potential.
  • Contribute positively to the Humanities department and wider school community.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance and academic achievement.

Requirements

The desired History Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for History.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
