Long Term Futures is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support Year 6 pupils at a welcoming primary school in Harrow.
Working across three Year 6 classes, you'll take responsibility for targeted Maths and English intervention groups, helping pupils strengthen key skills and make accelerated progress throughout their final year of primary school.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys focused teaching and can confidently deliver learning to small groups with minimal direction.
About the Role
- Work across three Year 6 classes, supporting pupils with varying abilities
- Lead daily small-group Maths and English interventions
- Identify gaps in learning and reinforce key KS2 concepts
- Support reading comprehension, writing, grammar and vocabulary development
- Build confidence with arithmetic, reasoning and problem-solving
- Adapt activities for pupils working below age-related expectations
- Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to class teachers
- Help pupils develop confidence and independence ahead of secondary school
- Provide additional classroom support when required
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as an HLTA or experienced KS2 Teaching Assistant
- Strong knowledge of the Year 6/KS2 curriculum
- Confident independently leading Maths and English groups
- Previous experience delivering interventions and tracking progress
- Good understanding of Year 6 expectations and SATs preparation
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working across multiple classes
- Previous UK primary school experience is highly desirable
