We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support a range of welcoming primary schools across Colchester and the surrounding areas.

The Role

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils' learning and development, working closely with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons and interventions. You may be required to cover classes in the teacher's absence, lead small group sessions, and provide targeted support to pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned lessons and learning activities across the primary age range.
  • Provide whole-class supervision when required.
  • Lead intervention groups to support pupil progress.
  • Support children with varying learning needs, including SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Requirements
  • HLTA qualification or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working within a UK primary school.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience supporting children with SEND.
  • Ability to adapt to different year groups and school settings.
  • Confidence delivering phonics, literacy and numeracy interventions.
  • Experience leading whole-class lessons.
