Are you an experienced HLTA or education professional with strong SEN experience and a proven ability to lead a classroom? We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent seeking to appoint an experienced HLTA with a strong background in SEN.

The successful candidate will need to be confident taking responsibility for a classroom, delivering high-quality learning and providing targeted support to pupils with additional needs.

You will work closely with the SENCo and wider school team, supporting the delivery of effective SEN provision and helping pupils make strong academic, social and emotional progress.

Responsibilities of this HLTA role:

  • Lead and manage a classroom, taking responsibility for day-to-day organisation, routines, behaviour and the learning environment.
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated and inclusive lessons to pupils with SEN and additional needs.
  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to address individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development through appropriate SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Work closely with the SENCo, teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with parents and carers, communicating confidently about pupil progress, behaviour and individual needs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessments, intervention planning and support plans.
  • Assist the SENCo with wider SEN provision, meetings, administration and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive environment, modelling excellent practice to pupils and colleagues.

The Ideal Candidate for this HLTA role will:

  • Have relevant experience working with pupils with SEN, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Have proven classroom/room leadership experience and be confident taking responsibility for a class independently.
  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and the ability to establish clear, consistent routines.
  • Be confident delivering lessons and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with parents and carers.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEN and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
  • Be proactive, reliable and confident working alongside the SENCo and wider school team.
  • Have the confidence and maturity to take on a leadership role within the classroom.
