TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH provision based in Childwall, Liverpool (L16), who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated HLTA. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist educational setting where building positive relationships, celebrating individual achievements and helping young people overcome barriers to education are central to supporting their development.

The school is looking to appoint a confident and motivated HLTA on a permanent basis from November 2026, supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. The successful HLTA will work closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging small-group interventions, provide tailored 1:1 support and confidently lead planned lessons when required, using positive behaviour management strategies to create a structured, supportive and inspiring learning environment.

The successful HLTA will have:

• A recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent relevant experience

• Experience supporting children and young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour

• Experience delivering targeted small-group interventions and supporting pupils with additional learning needs

• Strong behaviour management skills and an understanding of positive behaviour support strategies

• The confidence to lead planned lessons, manage classroom activities and adapt learning to meet individual pupil needs

• A patient, resilient and enthusiastic approach, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed
