Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive school in the Milton Keynes area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or existing HLTA who is ready to take on additional responsibility within the classroom, support teaching and learning, and help students achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the wider support team, providing targeted support to students as well as leading learning activities and providing classroom cover when required.

As an HLTA, your responsibilities may include:

• Leading whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher

• Delivering pre-planned lessons and learning activities

• Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions

• Supporting students with a range of abilities and additional needs

• Helping students overcome barriers to learning

• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs

• Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons

• Monitoring student engagement and progress

• Providing feedback to teaching staff

• Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment

• Building positive relationships with students

• Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience

• Working closely with teaching, SEND and pastoral teams

• Supporting the wider day-to-day running of the school

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have:

• Previous experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant

• Confidence leading classes or groups of students

• Experience delivering interventions or learning activities

• Strong behaviour and classroom management skills

• The ability to build positive relationships with young people

• Experience supporting students with different learning needs

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• A proactive and adaptable approach

An HLTA qualification or relevant Level 4 qualification would be beneficial, although experienced Teaching Assistants who have regularly taken on higher-level responsibilities are also encouraged to apply.

Experience within SEND, SEMH, behaviour support or pastoral care would also be advantageous.
