Are you an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner looking for a fun and rewarding role this summer?
We are recruiting for a passionate and hands-on Summer Holiday Club Cover Assistant to join our friendly holiday club based at a primary school in Whitby. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children in a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where learning continues through play.
Working with children from Reception to Year 6, you will help plan and deliver exciting activities that encourage creativity, confidence, independence and positive relationships.
The Role
As a Summer Holiday Club Cover Assistant, you will:
- Support children aged Reception to Year 6 throughout the school holiday club.
- Deliver engaging, play-based activities that encourage learning, exploration and enjoyment.
- Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child feels valued.
- Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Support children's social, emotional and physical development through a range of indoor and outdoor activities.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity and independence.
- Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of all children at all times.
- Be an active, energetic and positive member of the holiday club team.
- Working hours will be 8:30am – 3:30pm.
- Days worked each week will vary depending on the number of children attending the holiday club, so flexibility is essential.
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent) – essential.
- Previous experience working with children in an Early Years or primary school setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning through play.
- A hands-on, energetic and enthusiastic approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
- A flexible and reliable attitude, with the ability to adapt to varying staffing requirements.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Hold a relevant Early Years qualification.
- Have recent experience working with children.
- Be able to provide two years of professional references, including references relating to work with children.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
