Apricus Resourcing are currently looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable Full Time Homeless Housing Support Worker to join a leading Supported Housing Service based in Post Code Area CT1 Canterbury of Kent, who is really passionate about providing a personal housing support services. 

This role is working full time, 37.5 hours weekly between 8am-8pm these will either be early or late shifts or long days depending on rota, there is a reqirement to work 1 in 4 weekends. 

The role is to provide support to people that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Each Worker will Work with clients with support needs and support within supported accommodation and sometimes in the community. The Worker will work with individuals to address multiple needs, supporting them to become more resilient and live independent lives.  

Due to the need to meet clients at various locations a full driving licence and your own transport is required, fuel cost for travelling away from main base will be reimbursed. Please only apply if you have this. 

The successful candidate will:

Interview and assess clients in accordance with allocations policy and procedures and to keep all parties (e.g. referrers, prospective tenants/residents) informed of progress and the outcome.

Establish positive working relationships with clients, ensuring that active, meaningful engagement is established.

Enable clients to develop the skills and confidence needed to manage their housing and personal goals, which may include budgeting, debt management, education, employment, independent living skills, setting up home, neighbour complaints, health, and safety, accessing welfare and housing benefits, mental health and substance misuse and referring to more specialised agencies where appropriate.

Work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths, interests, and aspirations. Use a strengths-based approach to help individuals build on what energises them, supporting them to take ownership of their progress and outcomes.

Facilitate opportunities for clients to connect with their local community, including services, activities, and amenities, to promote social inclusion and long-term independence. Promote client involvement in the delivery of the service.

Maintain accurate and up to date administrative records and systems, assisting in the compilation of monthly performance reports and other reports as required

Facilitate, alongside allocated support workers, the development of a strengths-based Individual Plan in collaboration with the client and relevant partner agencies. Guide the process to ensure the plan reflects the client’s goals, aspirations, and support needs, enabling them to take meaningful steps toward their personal aims.

Lliaise with housing agencies to ensure that appropriate referrals are made, including the Local Authority Housing Register and to support clients through homelessness applications with the local authority.

Inspect the prospective move-on options with clients and landlords, ensuring that properties meet the Decent Homes Standard.

Ensure, when appropriate, a smooth transition into appropriate accommodation, including setting up utilities, accessing welfare benefits and appropriate grants. Engage clients in finding training, education, and employment opportunities.

Skills needed:  

  • Experience within housing or support services

  • A commitment to promoting independence and positive outcomes for clients

  • Own car and a full, valid driving licence  

  • Excellent Communication and IT Skills

  • Able to work in UK without sponsorship 

This is guaranteed via our agency until at least November and the assignment rate is £17.48 per hour, the hiring company has previously offered continuation as permanent employee follow successful performance in the initial months.
