Housing Enforcement Officer

A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Principal Housing Enforcement Officer to lead complex housing enforcement investigations within the private rented sector.
You will manage high-profile enforcement cases, ensuring compliance with housing legislation, licensing requirements and property standards while providing expert advice to colleagues, senior management and partner organisations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading investigations into complex breaches of housing legislation and licensing conditions.
- Inspecting HMOs, licensed properties and privately rented homes to identify hazards and enforcement requirements.
- Preparing and serving statutory notices, improvement notices, prohibition orders, civil penalties and other enforcement actions.
- Ensuring enforcement decisions are robust, evidence-based and legally compliant.
- Providing specialist housing enforcement advice to managers, Members and partner agencies.
- Supporting the delivery of effective regulatory and enforcement services.
- Proven experience in Housing Enforcement within a UK Local Authority.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, HMO licensing and private sector housing enforcement.
- Experience conducting property inspections and managing complex enforcement cases.
