Housing Officer – Property Access & Condition

Contract: 3‑month interim

Location: North Hertfordshire

Rate: £25 - £28 umbrella

We’re looking for an experienced Housing Specialist to support a busy housing team with essential property access and condition work. This is a hands‑on, patch‑based role focused on ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and accessible for inspections and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Visiting properties to assess condition, safety, and access issues

• Managing non‑access cases - arranging visits, rebooking appointments, and working with tenants to gain entry

• Supporting low‑level tenancy management across a small patch

• Carrying out gas safety access checks, damp & mould visits, and other compliance‑related property inspections

• Recording findings, updating systems, and ensuring follow‑up actions are completed

• Working closely with Housing Officers and the wider team to keep services moving during a busy period

What’s not included

• No court work

• No complex tenancy enforcement

• No high‑level ASB casework This role is focused on property access, condition, and compliance, not legal or intensive tenancy management.

What we’re looking for

• Previous housing management experience

• Confident engaging with tenants and resolving access issues

• Strong organisational skills — the team is busy, so you’ll need to stay on top of your patch
