Housing Officer

Niyaa People Ltd

Our client is a growing housing provider operating across Swansea and the surrounding areas of South Wales. Following a recent organisational merger and systems integration, the organisation is continuing to develop and strengthen its housing service.

With a significant programme of new-build homes coming forward, alongside an ongoing programme of vacant-property management, this is an exciting opportunity to join the team and play a key role in delivering high-quality housing services to local communities.

About the Housing Officer:
This is a generic housing management role, covering Swansea and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will manage a varied tenancy caseload and provide support across the full tenancy lifecycle, including tenancy management, tenant engagement, neighbourhood issues, property visits and tenancy sustainment.

There will also be a strong focus on supporting the letting and occupation of new-build homes, as well as assisting with the wider vacant-property programme. However, this is not a purely lettings-focused position and will provide the opportunity to undertake a broad range of housing management responsibilities.

The role is community-based and will require regular travel across Swansea and surrounding areas, alongside flexible hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities of a Housing Officer:
  • Manage a varied caseload of tenants and properties across Swansea and surrounding areas.
  • Deliver generic tenancy and housing management services throughout the tenancy lifecycle.
  • Manage lettings, allocations, sign-ups and tenant moves for new and vacant properties.
  • Undertake tenancy and property visits, addressing issues proactively.
  • Manage tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood issues.
  • Support tenancy sustainment and work with tenants to resolve issues.
  • Work closely with repairs, income, housing and other internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate tenancy records and case management information.
  • Manage your own workload, diary and travel effectively.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the housing service.

About You:
  • Experience working as a Housing Officer, Tenancy Officer or in a similar social housing role.
  • Good knowledge of generic tenancy and housing management.
  • Experience managing a caseload and working directly with tenants.
  • Understanding of tenancy legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Previous lettings or allocations experience is desirable.
  • Confident dealing with tenancy breaches, ASB and challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Organised and able to manage your own workload and diary.
  • Comfortable travelling across Swansea and surrounding areas.
  • Able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Customer-focused, proactive and committed to delivering a high-quality housing service.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to support a developing housing service.
