The Role

As Housing Officer, you will manage a varied housing management patch, delivering an efficient, customer-focused service whilst ensuring tenancy obligations are met and communities remain safe, sustainable and well managed.

You will take ownership of your caseload and work proactively to resolve issues, support residents and continuously improve service delivery.

Your Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering a comprehensive generic housing management service.

  • Managing tenancies from sign-up through to tenancy reviews and tenancy sustainment.

  • Carrying out new tenant welcome visits and tenancy audits.

  • Supporting residents experiencing financial hardship by promoting rent payment, budgeting advice and referrals to specialist support services.

  • Managing rent arrears and contributing towards income collection targets.

  • Investigating tenancy breaches including anti-social behaviour, nuisance, tenancy fraud, illegal subletting and abandoned properties.

  • Processing tenancy changes including mutual exchanges, assignments, successions and other tenancy matters.

  • Managing decants and acting as the main point of contact for affected residents.

  • Undertaking regular estate inspections and identifying communal repairs, environmental issues, fire safety concerns and health and safety risks.

  • Working closely with contractors and the local authority to ensure services are delivered effectively.

  • Responding to resident enquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.

  • Supporting vulnerable residents by working alongside statutory and voluntary agencies.

  • Promoting resident engagement and attending community meetings and events where required.

  • Maintaining accurate housing records and preparing reports on casework and performance.

About You

We're looking for someone who already has experience within social housing and understands the challenges of delivering front-line housing management services.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, Tenancy Officer or Housing Management Officer.

  • Strong knowledge of generic housing management.

  • Experience managing tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour cases.

  • Experience of tenancy sustainment and income collection.

  • Knowledge of current housing legislation and best practice.

  • Experience carrying out estate inspections.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Strong case management and problem-solving abilities.

  • The ability to work independently whilst managing a busy and varied workload.

  • Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate case records.
