Housing Options Officer

We are looking for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a local authority team on a temporary basis. You will support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing housing advice, assessing applications and helping applicants secure suitable accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage homelessness and housing applications in line with relevant legislation.
• Assess applicants' circumstances and develop personalised housing plans.
• Provide advice on housing options, tenancy rights and homelessness prevention.
• Maintain accurate case records and make decisions within required timescales.
• Work with partner agencies, landlords and support services to find suitable accommodation.
• Refer vulnerable applicants to relevant support services where needed.

Essential Requirements

• Experience in housing options, homelessness prevention or a similar role.
• Knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing processes.
• Strong communication, organisational and case management skills.
• Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable applicants and manage a varied caseload.
• Education to A-level standard or equivalent knowledge to NVQ Level 4.
• Fluent English.
• Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Additional Information

• Remote working, with travel required for home visits when necessary.
• DBS check required.
• Occasional evening, weekend or on-call work may be required
