Housing Solutions Officer

We are seeking an experienced Housing Solutions Officer to join a busy Local Authority housing service in East London.

The role will focus on preventing and relieving homelessness by providing high-quality housing advice, assessing applicants' circumstances and identifying suitable housing solutions. You will manage a varied caseload, carrying out detailed housing assessments and developing personalised housing plans in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and relevant housing legislation.

Key responsibilities will include investigating homelessness applications, assessing eligibility, priority need and local connection, negotiating with landlords and other agencies, and helping customers access suitable accommodation in the private rented or social housing sectors.

You will work closely with internal teams, landlords, support providers and external agencies to achieve sustainable outcomes for customers at risk of homelessness. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate case records, issuing statutory decision letters and ensuring cases are progressed within required timescales.
