Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking an HR Advisor to join their team in Cheshire.

Purpose of the Role

You will provide professional, proactive, and practical HR advice to managers and employees across Ringway Jacobs, with a primary focus on employee relations case management, attendance management, performance support, and manager coaching within Essex.

The HR Advisor will partner with managers to help them address people-related matters confidently, fairly, and consistently, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and best practice. The role plays a key part in developing management capability through the provision of guidance, training, and support across a broad range of HR and employee relations activities.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations Case Management

Manage a varied employee relations caseload from start to finish, including:

  • Disciplinary investigations and hearings
  • Grievances and employee complaints
  • Performance and capability management cases
  • Probationary review processes
  • Short-term and long-term attendance management cases
  • Workplace conflict resolution and mediation support

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear and pragmatic advice to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Ensure all cases are managed fairly, consistently, and in line with company policies.
  • Prepare and review employee relations documentation, including investigation reports, outcome letters, and meeting notes.
  • Support managers through formal and informal employee relations processes.

Manager Support and Coaching

Act as a trusted first point of contact for managers seeking HR guidance and support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver coaching and support to develop management confidence and capability.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused advice on people management matters.
  • Support managers in handling difficult and sensitive conversations.
  • Advise on effective performance management techniques.
  • Guide managers on conducting return-to-work meetings and welfare discussions.
  • Support managers in resolving workplace conflict and employee concerns.

Attendance and Wellbeing Management

Support managers in the effective management of employee attendance, wellbeing, and occupational health matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on absence management procedures and company attendance policies.
  • Support managers with trigger point reviews and attendance monitoring.
  • Assist with Bradford Factor discussions and attendance improvement plans.
  • Coordinate Occupational Health referrals and review recommendations.
  • Provide guidance on reasonable adjustments and workplace accommodations.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent relevant HR experience.
  • Proven experience independently managing employee relations cases.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience providing advice, guidance, and coaching to managers.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work autonomously.
  • Strong organisational and case management skills.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
