HR Advisor

Main purpose of the role:

The HR Advisor / Generalist provides comprehensive, day-to-day HR support across the organisation, acting as the first point of contact for managers, deputies, and team leaders on a wide range of HR matters.

The role is responsible for managing Employee Relations casework, supporting HR operations across the employee lifecycle, and ensuring consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment law.

A key part of the role also involves delivering HR and employment law workshops to managers, supporting capability building and promoting best practice across the organisation.

The HR Advisor works closely with the Accounts team regarding payroll data inputs and supports compliance activity, including UK sponsorship and right-to-work requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Take ownership of day-to-day Employee Relations (ER) casework, providing first-line HR support on issues including absence, conduct, capability, grievance, and disciplinary matters

· Advise managers on appropriate procedures, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant handling of cases in line with HR policies and employment law

· Provide day-to-day HR operational support across the employee lifecycle

· Maintain accurate employee records on HR systems, ensuring all changes (starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences) are processed accurately and promptly

· Liaise with the Accounts team to provide accurate HR data required for payroll processing

· Support the organisation’s UK immigration sponsorship responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Home Office requirements

· Deliver HR and employment law workshops to managers, deputies, and team leaders

· Provide day-to-day support and guidance to HR apprentices within the team, contributing to their on-the-job learning and development

fast-paced and varied role where you will play a key part in supporting managers, leading on Employee Relations casework, and
helping to deliver a high-quality HR service across the organisation. You will also support the development of managers through
delivering HR and employment law workshops, helping to build confidence and capability across all levels of leadership.

Fixed Term Contract – 9 Months (Hybrid with office based in Birmingham/Erdington)
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised, and thrives in a busy and fast-paced environment.
You will be able to balance multiple priorities while providing a high standard of HR support.
About you:
�CIPD Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience)
� Previous experience working in a fast-paced HR environment
� Strong experience handling Employee Relations cases and comfortable managing a varied workload
� Good understanding of HR policies, procedures, and UK employment law
� Takes ownership of work and delivers high-quality HR support
� Experienced in delivering or supporting training, workshops, or presentations (desirable)
� Strong communication and relationship-building skills
� Passionate about supporting managers and improving people practices
� Confident working with managers at all levels while being proactive and solution-focused
� Good IT skills, including HR systems and Microsoft Office
