HR Generalist

Location: Watford (with essential travel to 5 sites across London when required)

Salary: Negotiable

Hours: 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday

Come and join this People Team! This is a true HR generalist role where no two days are the same. As a busy, growing builders' and plumbers' merchant with six locations across London, people are at the heart of everything they do. They are looking for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play a key role in supporting colleagues, managers and the senior leadership team as they continue to grow and improve. Your primary focus will be to support the branches offering advice both over the phone and in person, whilst exploring measures to continually improve and maintain processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

Significant experience in employee relations.

CIPD Level 5 certification.

Strong understanding of HR principles, employee relations, practices, and employment laws.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to build robust relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability to use and understand AI tools

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

HR Business Partnering:

Support the Senior People Business Partner, team members and the wider management teams/colleagues with process improvement and query resolution

Manage employee relations issues end-to-end, ensuring compliance with company policies.

Act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing HR support at an operational level.

Supporting the business with long-term objectives and five-year plan

Facilitate talent management and succession planning.

Employee Relations:

Manage and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment law.

Design and deliver in-house management upskilling workshops

Visiting branches to ensure HR presence and advice is available for timely support

Employee Engagement and Culture:

Drive a positive culture by implementing employee engagement initiatives, including surveys and focus groups.

Actively own and contribute to HR projects at any given time

Administrate online benefits platform via Perkbox and become a super user to actively promote to staff

Regularly update and communicate HR policies and procedures.

Designing and Delivering weekly company induction programme for onboarding new colleagues

AOB:

Ensure that the HR inbox is actively monitored and queries responded to

Support recruitment activities, including interviews, onboarding and new starter administration

Assist with payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and timely processing

Produce HR reports, metrics and management information as required.

Maintain accurate employee records

Support employee wellbeing, engagement and recognition initiatives.

Contribute to internal communications and company events.

Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role and needs of the business.
