Our client is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their busy HR team on an interim basis, providing dedicated Employee Relations support during a period of high activity.
This role is heavily focused on managing complex ER cases from start to finish and would suit someone with strong experience working within a unionised environment. If you are confident handling disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, performance concerns, investigations and Trade Union consultations, we would love to hear from you.
The Role
Working closely with senior stakeholders and the wider HR team, you will act as the go to Employee Relations expert, delivering practical and commercially focused advice across a wide range of people matters.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can quickly build credibility, confidently manage complex and sensitive casework, and work collaboratively with managers, employees and Trade Union representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a high volume of complex Employee Relations cases from initial investigation through to outcome and appeal.
- Leading on disciplinaries, grievances, long-term absence, capability, performance management and misconduct matters.
- Advising managers on employment law, HR policies, procedures and best practice.
- Conducting investigations, preparing case documentation and supporting formal hearings.
- Building strong relationships with Trade Union representatives and supporting union consultations.
- Providing guidance on collective and individual consultation processes.
- Supporting organisational change programmes, restructures and employee engagement initiatives.
- Coaching and challenging managers to ensure fair and consistent people management practices.
- Identifying and mitigating employee relations risks across the business.
- Ensuring all casework is accurately documented and fully compliant with employment legislation.
- Producing ER reports, trends analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
About You
- Proven experience within an Employee Relations, HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or ER Specialist role.
- Significant experience managing complex HR casework independently from start to finish.
- Strong background working within a Trade Union and unionised environment.
- Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Law and HR best practice.
- Comfortable handling sensitive, high risk and escalated employee relations matters.
- Experience supporting consultations, organisational change and workforce planning activities.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge managers professionally.
- Able to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.
- Available immediately or at short notice.
Why Apply?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ER professional to join a well established organisation where your expertise in case management, Trade Union liaison and employment law will be highly valued from day one.
If you enjoy managing complex Employee Relations matters and partnering with managers to navigate challenging people issues, we'd love to hear from you.
