Human Resources Manager Location: East Sussex (office-based) 55-60k per annum plus excellent benefits 
Hours: Flexible – 32 to 40 hours per week

The Opportunity We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business for an experienced Human Resources Manager. This is a standalone, hands-on HR leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver the people strategy while supporting the day-to-day HR operations across the business.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll provide both strategic and operational HR support, ensuring managers and employees have the guidance, processes and tools needed to create a high-performing and positive workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the HR function, providing a comprehensive HR service across the business.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and deliver HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and succession planning.
  • Advise and support managers on employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, redundancy and other employment issues.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures remain compliant with current UK employment legislation and best practice.
  • Oversee HR systems, employee records and payroll administration through an outsourced payroll provider.
  • Produce HR reports and management information to support business decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, including recruitment agencies, training providers and occupational health services.
  • Support organisational growth through effective workforce planning and talent development.
  • Coach and support managers on all people-related matters.

About You We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who is confident operating in a standalone HR Manager position and enjoys balancing strategic projects with day-to-day operational responsibilities.
You’ll ideally have:
  • A minimum of 10 years’ HR generalist experience at HR Manager level.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or similar operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing recruitment, employee relations and HR compliance.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing business decisions.
  • Experience producing HR reports and presenting information to senior management.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and payroll processes.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with Occupational Health providers (desirable).
  • MCIPD qualification and a degree or equivalent.
