Pertemps are currently recruiting for an HR Onboarding and Compliance Officer to join the Human Resources team at Hillingdon Council.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a busy team and play a key role in ensuring new starters are onboarded efficiently and in line with employment legislation and Council policies.
About the role: As an HR Onboarding and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for managing a range of onboarding and compliance activities, working closely with hiring managers, candidates and colleagues across the HR function.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the onboarding process for new starters from offer through to commencement.
- Completing and monitoring Right to Work checks, including follow-up checks where required.
- Managing DBS checks and ensuring the appropriate checks are completed.
- Preparing and issuing employment offers and contracts accurately and within required timescales.
- Requesting and checking references in line with safer recruitment requirements.
- Supporting visa and sponsorship applications, including new applications and renewals.
- Responding to HR, onboarding, DBS and Right to Work queries.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and compliance documentation.
- Providing regular updates to hiring managers and candidates throughout the onboarding process.
- Carrying out first-day checks and escalating any discrepancies.
- Supporting HR Operations and Payroll during busy periods.
- Keeping up to date with changes to relevant legislation and HR compliance requirements.
- Supporting continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures.
About you: The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within HR onboarding, recruitment or HR operations, preferably within a complex organisation.
You will have experience of:
- HR onboarding and compliance processes.
- Right to Work and DBS checks.
- Managing confidential employee and candidate information.
- Working with internal stakeholders and hiring managers.
- Using HR, recruitment or Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Working accurately within GDPR and data protection requirements.
You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
