Hr & Payroll Administrator

TH Recruitment

The Opportunity

We are now looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Administrator to join the team, supporting a workforce of approximately 84 employees.

This is likely to be a part-time position, and we can offer flexibility around both the number of hours worked and how these are structured across the week. We are therefore happy to discuss different working patterns to find an arrangement that works for both the successful candidate and the business.

Reporting directly to the Group Finance & HR Director, you will provide comprehensive HR administration across the employee lifecycle while taking responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll.

This would suit someone who has previous payroll experience alongside a good understanding of HR administration and enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
  • Managing time and attendance records.
  • Tracking and calculating overtime.
  • Managing holiday and absence records.
  • Maintaining disciplinary and other employee records.
  • Producing HR documentation using existing templates.
  • Taking accurate notes during HR meetings and investigations.
  • Maintaining employee, HR and payroll records.
  • Ensuring all HR and payroll information is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Completing relevant HMRC filings, including P60s, P45s, RTI and P11Ds.
  • Preparing HR and payroll reports and metrics.
  • Supporting managers and employees with HR and payroll queries.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment law, GDPR, payroll legislation and company policies.
  • Liaising with external HR providers, HMRC and auditors when required.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is organised, accurate and comfortable taking ownership of both payroll and day-to-day HR administration.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous payroll experience, including end-to-end payroll processing.
  • A good understanding of payroll legislation and workplace pensions.
  • Experience within HR or employee administration.
  • An understanding of employment law and HR processes.
  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload and meet monthly deadlines.
  • The confidence to communicate with employees and managers at all levels.

Due to the nature of the role, you will also need to be highly discreet and comfortable handling confidential and sensitive employee information.

About You

You’ll be a self-motivated and approachable person who enjoys working as part of a team but is equally comfortable managing your own workload.

You’ll have a positive, can-do attitude, be a natural problem solver and remain calm and organised when working to deadlines.

Most importantly, you’ll take pride in accuracy and providing a reliable service to both employees and the wider business.

Flexible Part-Time Working

We recognise that experienced HR and payroll professionals may be looking for different working arrangements.

The position is expected to be part-time, but there is flexibility around the hours and working pattern. Whether you are looking for shorter days across the week or fewer full working days, we would be happy to discuss what could work.

If you have a background in payroll and HR administration and are looking for a varied role with flexible part-time hours, we’d love to hear from you.
