This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in HR case management, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment, who can provide professional, accurate and timely support to managers and employees.
You will play an important role in supporting employee relations matters, ensuring HR policies and procedures are applied consistently, and helping deliver an efficient, customer-focused HR service.
Please note that this role will initially require you to be based on-site full-time while you complete training, with the potential for this to reduce once you are fully trained.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact for managers and employees regarding HR casework and people-related enquiries.
- Manage and progress HR cases in line with policies, procedures and employment legislation.
- Provide clear, practical guidance to managers on employee relations and people management matters.
- Identify potential risks and escalate complex or sensitive cases where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records using HR systems and case management tools.
- Ensure compliance with data protection requirements and relevant statutory obligations.
- Manage multiple cases simultaneously, prioritising workloads and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with HR colleagues and wider teams to resolve queries efficiently.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements in HR processes, guidance and service delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working within a local authority, district council or borough council.
- Experience in HR, people services or a similar customer-focused support role.
- A good understanding of HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
- Experience managing HR casework, employee relations matters and competing priorities.
- The ability to provide accurate guidance and recognise when issues need to be escalated.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience using HR systems, case management tools and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach, with a commitment to delivering a high-quality service.
