Travel: Some travel between sites required

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and drive Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) compliance and continuous improvement across two sites. The role will be primarily based at the Head Office in Hinckley, with some travel required to the Farnborough site.

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation, regulatory compliance, risk management frameworks, incident investigation, contractor management and industry best practice. You will also need the ability to provide strategic advice and influence decision-making at senior leadership level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the site's Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards.
  • Write, monitor, review and update HSE policies, procedures, risk assessments and documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections and compliance reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training and awareness programmes across the business.
  • Support managers and supervisors in maintaining a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor environmental compliance and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies and customers on HSE-related matters.
  • Track and report key HSE metrics and performance indicators.
  • Apply Continuous Improvement tools and techniques to improve safety performance and standardise processes.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on HSE matters.
  Experience & Qualifications:
  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards Chartered status.
  • Environmental qualification and knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role within a manufacturing environment, preferably Aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Hands-on experience using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the business.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or other Continuous Improvement accreditation is desirable, but not essential.
  • Flexibility in working hours and the ability to travel between sites.
